A Great Workout
Learn the essentials of gym routines and equipment.
When you arrive at the gym, you first scan your membership card at the front desk. Then, you head to the locker room to change into your workout clothes and store your belongings safely. It is very important to start with a good warm-up to prepare your muscles and prevent injuries.
Many people begin in the cardio section, running on a treadmill or cycling on a stationary bike to get their heart rate up. After that, you might move to the weightlifting area. Here, you can use a dumbbell for one-handed exercises or a long heavy barbell for heavy lifting, like the bench press.
To build strength, you perform exercises in a specific number of reps and sets. If you are unsure how to use the equipment safely, it is best to ask a personal trainer. Always remember to wipe down the equipment with a towel when you finish, and end your session with a gentle stretch on a yoga mat.
